Jan's Tests
Cutter must complete these tests before the Guardians will consider him ready to leave the camp.
All of the tests can be completed without ever talking to Jan, with the exception of the Sneaking Test, which requires his involvement.
Test of Shooting: Shoot the 3 pots out by the Daoka.
Test of Jumping: Climb to the top of the stairs, jump onto the other end of the broken bridge, and collect the chest.
Test of Swimming: Dive into the water at least once.
Test of Sneaking: Using the boxes and low snow walls as cover and timing your movements carefully, collect the fruit dropped by Jan. Fail enough times and he'll let you pass regardless.
NOTE: In the "Second Contact" remake, you can complete the Sneaking Test with one well-timed sprint. Just wait for the moment Jan turns away from the box you start behind, then move behind the obstacles as quickly as you can.
Ask Jan for your result, then go tell Zokrym you are ready to go.
Jan will give you your EVD
(a set of binoculars with an X-Ray function) and Zokryim will open the Daoka so you can truly begin your adventure.
Shamazaar
Immediately upon entering this region, you will meet a Talan who is willing to guide you around. Following him is optional, but he will take you to the village where you can find Shamaz Zeb, the first Talan you should talk to.
TIPS:
Throughout Shamazaar, sticks can be seen sticking out of the riss fields. These mark secret caches of useful items, but be careful when chasing after the ones on the edges of the region - the marshes run deep there, and you might sink to your untimely doom.
Zolass' Twon-Ha
- South of the Riss Counters just west of the Temple Faé, you can find a talan dressed in green known as Zolass.
- He has been waiting for a Twon-ha from Zalinass, the Twon-ha loving talan in blue always found by the animal pens in the village.
- Find him and convince him to give you the Twon-ha's gui, an item that will make it follow you.
- Lead the Twon-ha to Zolass, and inform Zalinass of its safe arrival. He will offer you a discount if you ever decide to buy a Twon-ha from him.
Accident at the Temple Ka
The stairs to the top of the Temple Ka are blocked by debris, and the workers need your help. A stick of dynamite or a hit from an explosive weapon should do the trick... Just remember to tell them to clear out first!
REMINDER: Dynamite can be found scattered in many of the bodies of water around the region, or on the ground near most groups of soldiers.
Once the accident is cleared, you can talk to the workers for a reward. They will also tell you of a terrifying beast called a "Gorgor" that is resting in the waters behind the temple... Which turns out to be a big fake made to scare the workers. You can also blow this up by detonating some of the dynamite found at the bottom of the lake, or by shooting it with an explosive weapon.
Be sure to inform the workers of its destruction when you're done.
Shamazaar's Mon
- Naarn has an idea of where the Mon is, but has gone missing.
- Naarn's brother, Ilott, can be found in the riss fields to the north of the village, near a heavy soldier presence.
- Return to Shamaz Zeb and ask him to heal Ilott.
- Speak to Shamaz Mazum at the temple Eluée - The one with a large statue of a wave on its roof.
- Shamaz Mazum is old and weary, and needs some Magwa to get his energy back. Go and see Logar, who can be found in the riss fields nearby, and he will give you some magwa.
- Give the Magwa to Shamaz Mazum, and he will tell you of a "Sankra Tablet." Maar, Leader of Shamazaar, knows where it is. He can be found in the village.
- You will need dynamite to open the box that the tablet is within.
REMINDER: Dynamite can be found scattered in many of the bodies of water around the region, or on the ground near most groups of soldiers.
- Bring the tablet back to Shamaz Mazum, and he will explain the concept of "Sankra," an important puzzle clue.
- Go and recover the Essence Idols from the riss storehouses. There are three storehouses: two on the islands near the Temple Faé, and one to the northeast near the other temples.
- Following Shamaz Mazum's notes on the tablet, place the Essence Idols in the 3 temples to the northeast of the Temple Faé.
The correct order is:
Eluée Idol in Temple Ka
Ka Idol in Temple Gandha
Faé Idol in Temple Eluée
- If you have placed the 3 Idols correctly, you will see a cinematic of a staircase building up in the Temple Faé. If you did the puzzle incorrectly, the steps will immediately fall back down.
- You must now take the fight to the Temple Faé - It will not be an easy fight, so be sure to stock up on weapons, ammo and supplies if need be.
- Naarn will stumble out of one of the two Daoka in the back of the temple - Speak with him and he will give you the last Essence Idol. Of course, if he dies before you can get to him, you can simply take it.
- Place the idol inside of the mechanism by the stairs, and the flame atop the temple will go out. Climb up, and claim the Mon!
Move quickly - Wait too long, and the flame will reignite.
RESOURCE QUEST - Cut Off the Riss Supply
Talking to Maar in the village or Zeo at the Well of Essence, you will learn that the farmers wish for the return of the essence stone.
A fake version can be found in a tower by the Temple Faé.
The real stone is in a body of water in the far northeast by the other temples.
Return the real stone to Zeo, and Maar will convince the farmers to agree to stop supplying riss to Faé Rhan's army, effectively halving the health of his soldiers.
NOTE: Completing both Food Resource Quests reduces their health by a total of 3/4.
EVENT QUEST - A Gamor Problem
At a random time, once you've talked to Zalinass at least once and either loaded your game or moved to another region, the talan around Shamazaar may call out to you. Ask them about the "event," and they will tell you Zalinass has some type of problem.
Talk to Zalinass, go kill the five gamor far east of the village, and return for your reward.
Talanzaar
Immediately upon entering this region, you will meet a Talan who welcomes you to the city of Okriana. He will warn you to stay away from the High Town, and to avoid staying on the main roads as they are often patrolled by the forces of Faé Rhan.
Nikaa's Loan
In the riss district to the west of the palace and near the western wall, you can find Nikaa, a very androgynous talan.
They simply want a loan of zorkins. Give them to Nikaa, then come back after a little while to collect on it.
Azirad's Necklace
Azirad, the helidium carver in the builders' district southwest of the temple, has had his necklace stolen by a thief.
He last saw the thief somewhere in the construction supply district. Your advisor headset will detect the necklace as "Crafted Material", which you can return to Azirad for a reward.
Heza's Well
- Heza, the a water merchant that travels along the main road of Okriana with his cart, has a problem with his well.
- He will direct you to Zade, his assistant, at the well south of the palace.
- Zade will tell you there are some large rocks blocking the bottom of the well.
- Tell Zade to clear out, then either drop some dynamite into the well and use a CLAPR-T to detonate it, or fire an LN-DUO 500 shot into it if you have the weapon and the accuracy.
- You'll know you've cleared the well when a jet of water bursts up from the well.
- Tell Zade and Heza you fixed the problem, and receive your reward.
Mogad's Box
In the construction district west of the temple, you will find Mogad... Though you will likely find the out-of-control crane swinging a box around wildly first. You can either speak to him before or after stopping the box.
You can slow the box down by firing on it with your HK-P12 or UZA-SH1 when it swings towards you. Do this roughly 10 times and it will stop, at which point you can speak to Mogad for a reward.
Tezu's Pots
Tezu, a potter tucked away in the pottery district just south-east of the palace, wants you to help his business thrive by breaking the many pots around Adelpha. Break enough of them, and he may even reward you for it.
Gizo's Bracelet
Gizo can be found in the fish district, along the southermost wall of the city. He found a bracelet belonging to someone from the region of Okasankaar, and would like you to return it to them.
The owner is Zele, the depressed talan by the harbor. He will tell you to return to Gizo and reward him for his kindness.
Do so, and you'll get a reward of your own.
Jokace's Animal Skins
You can find Jokace in the animal skin distict southeast of the temple, and he has a problem - He was tasked with making an extra-large animal skin out of several smaller pelts, and needs enough sticky material to keep them all together.
He needs four "zeedog glands", which the snake-like tentacle creatures that lurk in the shallow waters of Okasankaar spit out when killed.
You will also be able to sell any additional glands to him after this quest is complete.
Shadi's Lampe Delivery
- Just east of the Daoka to Shamazaar, you can find Zoss in the brewers' district. He will tell you about Lampe, and how it seems to be known to put Faé talan to sleep.
- Next, find Zagu in the spice district east of the palace. He has the idea to "spice" some Lampe with a mushroom known as the Daguerach, found only in Okasankaar, which will put the soldiers to sleep for a long time.
- Next, find Shadi, a musician in orange found just south of the well. If you give him 50 zorkins 3 times, he will offer to do you a favor. He regularly delivers Lampe to the soldiers in the nearby barracks.
- If you have at least one Daguerach in your inventory, you can buy five lampe from Zoss and bring them to Zagu, who will give you some "Good Moon Lampe". Finally, take this Lampe to Shadi, and he will deliver it to the nearby soldier barracks.
- It will take some time for the soldiers to partake of the good stuff, but once they're down for the count you will be able to take out the barracks with much greater ease.
Mored's Hoti
In the fruit district east of the palace and just south of the Daoka to Motazaar, you can find Mored, a fruit merchant who is willing to pay you for 10 Hoti, which can be found all over the region of Okaar. He will also buy any additional Hoti you offer him, though it is best to hold on to some if you have yet to complete all the Motazaar quests.
The Miner's Song
South of the palace, you can find an old miner singing by the well.
He wants to sing his song with you, and you can learn the lyrics from the miners in Motazaar... Or, if you know enough Agazork yourself, you can pretty safely guess the correct lines.
The correct lines are:
Milea Ko...
Lepta Mae...
Labta Ulukai...
Kata Mae...
He will offer you a gui belonging to a Twon-ha that ran away in Shamazaar. It is one of the wild Twon-ha that can be found far east of the village, near the Daoka to Ranzaar.
Mogi's Story
Mogi is a beggar found just south of Zot's house. Listen to his story and give him some zorkins.
Azirad's Upgrades
Azirad, the helidium carver in the builders' district southwest of the temple, can upgrade your HAWK-MK8
(if you have it) if you can give him a very large piece of helidium.
There are two pieces of helidium that Azirad can use to upgrade your weapon:
- The Broken Boat Light from Cyana in Okasankaar, for the Level 1 Upgrade
- The Helidium Piece from Zogard's Mine in Motazaar, for the Level 2 Upgrade
Balazar's Relic
- In the fruit district, along the eastern wall of the city, you can find Balazar. He is a collector of talan relics, and he has his eye on a particular piece found just outside of the city walls.
- The relic can be found west of the armory. Bring it to Balazar, but do not sell it just yet - ask him how it can be cleaned.
- He will inform you that it can only be cleaned with the burning breath of the Achondar, a dragon-like serpent found only in Okaar.
- In its arena, drop the relic on the ground and bait the Achondar into spitting fire at it. When its name changes from "Relic" to "Clean Relic", you will be able to bring it back to Balazar for a better reward.
RESOURCE QUEST - Stop Tax Collection
- Zot, the leader of Okriana, can be found to the east of the palace, in a building west of the Daoka to Motazaar.
- He won't be able to convince the people of Okriana to stop paying taxes to Faé Rhan unless Zoss and Heza stop fighting.
- Zoss is the Lampe brewer in the brewers' district north of the palace, just east of the Daoka to Shamaaar. Talk to him about Heza.
- Now, find and speak with Heza, the water merchant. He travels counter-clockwise along the main road of Okriana. He will tell you to deal with three merchants that have raised their prices.
- Yagu is in the riss district, west of the palace and just north of Shamaz Zokrace's home.
- He wants you to find his rother, Ezef, one of the workers clearing the rubble from the Temple Ka in Shamazaar.
- Return to Yagu with word from Ezef, and he will lower his price.
- Zakk is in the builders' district, southwest of the palace.
- He loves working with metal, and will lower his price if you allow him to borrow and inspect your HK-P12.
- Give him your gun and return to him in a short while to retrieve it. Sometimes, after doing this quest, you will be able to cycle between HK-P12 upgrades for some bizarre reason.
- Ominel is in the meat district, northwest of the palace.
- He is a collector who is looking for an Oogoobar knife. The Oogoobar are a tribal race of talan that live in Okaar.
- There is only one Daoka to Okaar, and it is on a small island off the far coast of "mainland" Okasankaar, surrounded by soldiers that are thankfully relatively easy to avoid.
- Southeast of the Daoka you can find the Oogoobar camp, and east of there is an altar upon which a Shamaz is about to be sacrificed.
- You will have to attack the Oogoobar, retrieve the sacrificial dagger, and bring it to Ominel.
- When all of this is done, you can speak to Heza, followed by Zoss, and finally with Zot. Ask Zot about ceasing the payment of taxes, and he'll convince the people of Okriana to do so.
Now, fewer soldiers will be posted around Adelpha, and your adventure will become significantly easier.
Okasankaar
Immediately upon entering this region, you will meet a Talan who tells you that the city of Cyana is crawling with soldiers looking for Guardians. You must clear them out, or all the citizens will be too afraid to speak with you.
TIPS:
If you have to enter the water, stay near the buoys that scare away the sannegta.
Okasankaar's Mon
- Speak with Shamaz Kaleb in the tower above the City of Cyana, who will tell you to find a talan named Oru to take you to the mon's location.
- Speak with Sadar the boatman, who needs a Zeedog gland to fix his boat.
REMEMBER: You can find Zeedogs all over the shallow waters of Okasankaar. They spit up their glands when killed.
- Take Sadar's boat to Oru's island, and he will tell you what he needs.
Getting Oru's Gun
- Speak with Shamaz Kaleb about retrieving Oru's gun.
- Oru's gun lies in a small sunken temple southwest of the main island.
- Near the temple, a talan named Egar can be seen staring at the building from afar. Speak with him and ask him to help you.
- Press one button at the same time as Egar presses the other and the temple gate will open.
- Take note of the symbols drawn on the back of the temple - These are the order in which you will later need to hit the symbols on the essence wheel inside the Darosham.
Getting Oru's Ammo
- Speak with Zele about getting ammunition for Oru's gun.
- You will need 5 Daguerach and 5 Booyat.
Daguerach grow on an island east of Oru's house, which are easily obtainable.
Booyat grow in the heat behind the essence wheel of the Darosham.
- Find Zafar, a merchant dressed in yellow on the east side of Cyana, and ask him about the Booyat.
- He will sell you 1 Booyat (unless you've done the Zafar's Stand side-quest, which will let you get it for free), as well as sell you information on how to get inside the depths of the Darosham.
- You will need to travel to the prison of Zorkatraz for the final Booyat, but you can get inside the Darosham at any time.
- Shoot the essence wheel in the order you saw on the back of the sunken temple - Faé, Elué, Gandha, and Ka - and be sure to conclude your business fast, as it is lethally hot inside the Darosham.
- Pick up everything in sight, making sure to pick up the Gorgor Tooth off of the dead Talan, and get out of there - The flame will have reignited, so you will have to shoot the essence wheel again on your way out.
- The final Booyat can be found on Zorkatraz. Be sure to save yourself some time and pick up the key you need at the soldier barracks on the east end of the "mainland."
- Zidar the boatman will guide you to Zorkatraz for a small fee, but the guards cannot be allowed to see you as you approach. You have to swim behind his boat until he gives you the signal to get down under the water, staying close to him as you do so the sannegta in the water won't kill you.
- There is a staircase in the middle of Zorkatraz that will allow you to exit the water and invade the prison proper. You will have to jump around and avoid soldiers at every turn, so be very quick and cautious.
- Once the prison is clear of soldiers, open the cell on the south end with the key and speak with Martigar to get the last Booyat. Be sure to give him the Gorgor tooth while you're here.
- Finally, blow the big horn on the southern edge of the prison to get picked up by Zidar and return to Cyana.
Hunting The Gorgor
- Finally, at last, you can bring Oru his equipment and accompany him to Gorgor Island.
- As soon as the cutscene ends, grab Oru's gun, select it in your inventory, and fire it at the Gorgor until it is stunned. Swap to your weapon of choice to finish it off, and the Gorgor will soon fall.
- Approach the Gorgor's body to get its scent on you, and the sannegta will not come near you, allowing you to swim safely to the island to the northeast where the Mon can be found, completing the quest.
RESOURCE QUEST - Cut Off the Sankaar Supply
- Zernar, the leader of Okasankaar, can be found near the docks of Cyana. Talking to him reveals that Cyana's Boat Light needs to be fixed before he can think about stopping the supply of sankaar for the soldiers.
- You need to find a large piece of helidium from Motazaar to fix the light.
- Travel to Motazaar and speak with Ashkar.
- Head to the north mine and find Zine. If you haven't done the "Zine's Friend" side-quest, you will need to help him. Otherwise, ask him about the helidium, and he will take you to the rock crusher to get the piece you need.
- Take the piece of helidium to Azirad in Okriana in the builders' district southwest of the palace, and (after a short period of time) he'll carve it into a new boat light.
- Return to Cyana, jump up to the top of the lighthouse by the harbor, and replace the old boat light with this new one.
Return to Zernar and speak with him. Unless you've already done so, he may request that you eliminate some more of the soldiers around the region, but perform this last task for him and he will convince the Sankaar Catchers to agree to stop supplying sankaar to Faé Rhan's army, effectively halving the health of his soldiers.
NOTE: Completing both Food Resource Quests reduces their health by a total of 3/4.
Motazaar
RESOURCE QUEST - Stop Helidium Mining
Retrieving the Motazaar Mon is the only prerequisite for this quest. Save Shamaz Keb, speak with Ashkar, and the soldiers' weapons will become much weaker.
Okaar
Story Events
Marion in Trouble #1
Some time after finding your first Mon you will receive a transmission from Marion, telling you she's in trouble and describing her surroundings. This will lead you to Talanzaar, where the citizens will wave you over to tell you about the situation.
Shamaz Zokrace, found west of the palace, will tell you Marion can be found in Zelb's bar, which is located southwest of the palace.
Zelb will inform you Marion can be found in a house west of the palace - a building with barred windows and a closed, unmarked door.
Walk up to the door to complete the quest.
Marion in Trouble #2
Some time after finding your second Mon, you will receive another transmission from Marion.
She has followed the Guardians in an attack on the Ventilope Training Camp, past the barrier north of Shamazaar.
You can ask any Talan in the region about the "Event," revealing that the barrier to the north is down. Go up there, take out the soldiers, and free the Guardians to complete the quest.
Jan in Trouble
Some time after finding your third Mon, you will receive another transmission from Marion.
Some guardians, including Jan, have been captured and taken to the Darosham in Okasankaar.
Traveling to Okasankaar and speaking with the talan there will reveal that Kroax himself is at the Darosham.
Once you make it to the Darosham, you will find Kroax and Faé Rhan reverting the Guardians in the flames within. Fend off Kroax's forces before they can revert Jan, then speak with him to complete the quest.
You can also go tell Zokrym that his son is safe to receive a small reward.
Guardians in Trouble
Some time after finding your fourth mon, you will receive another transmission, this time telling you that the Guardian camp in Ranzaar is under attack!
Head to Ranzaar and speak with Jan, who will tell you the others have been taken to Okaar. Once there, you can talk to Kyuran, who will point you to the barracks to the east.
This is a point of no return! Approaching the door to the barracks will initiate the final few encounters leading up to the game's ending.
It is highly recommended that you save your game before going here.
