WendyVainity

WendyVainity, also known as madcatlady, is a YouTube user from Adelaide, South Australia whose interests include collecting 3D models and playing around with 3D modeling/animation software.

Many of Wendy's videos are made specifically for testing a certain function of programs like Daz 3D and Carrara, with Wendy picking out a random model, backdrop and audio track to see if, for example, she can put an old man in a dress that flows like real cloth, or give a dancing doll a wild and crazy hairdo that flows in the wind as she moves.

"fur displacement test" AKA "meow! sad toy cats" - August 12, 2010

The experimental nature of her videos naturally lends a very bizarre and dreamlike quality any concept they try to depict, from the silliest to the most mundane, which has lead some to revere Wendy as a misunderstood artistic visionary who knows exactly what she's doing... Others mock and berate her relentlessly for the amateurish quality of her videos, calling it "porn for the insane" and crying out "I'm in the weird part of youtube again!"

This attention from the public has given her videos relative popularity and Internet Meme status in certain online circles.

"adult dolly dressups" - June 22, 2011

What is certain is that Wendy has a very creative mind, and her videos have a distinct homemade charm that isn't matched by most artists who make weird things completely deliberately. The intent behind Wendy's videos comes from someone simply following an interest and sharing it with the world.

Wendy does not see herself as some kind of hot-shot visual artist, and that's exactly what captivates me about her work.

Unfortunately, whether due to YouTube's ever-changing regulations resulting in the censorship of her content, or due to her own personal distaste for her old creations, a wide range of her videos have been removed from public viewing or have been outright deleted altogether.

This archive is here to share some of the few videos I managed to have backed up, and to remember the ones I couldn't.

Some may consider these videos to have no value, being nothing more than the result of a random woman somewhere in the world playing with virtual dolls. Wendy herself may even think about them this same way, and ... well, granted, perhaps some things - like piggy in mud, a video featuring a pig dancing underneath a deluge of viscous brown liquid to the audio of "Johnny's First Job" By Richie Kavanagh - do not exactly qualify as timeless art pieces worth safeguarding for the ages...

But I think that anything any amount of time and/or creative energy went into - any amount at all - is worth preserving, at least to some extent.

I enjoy Wendy's work genuinely and unironically, not because I see some deep hidden genius behind it, but because I simply feel inspired by her creativity. She gets an idea, tries out a feature of her program of choice, or just sets out to make a funny little video greeting card for her friends, and she makes a little visual diorama out of it... and I, quite frankly, wish I had the energy to do that kind of thing more often myself.

On the other hand, dear reader, if you too are an appreciator of Wendy's work or have some backed up videos missing from this archive, let me know via the same contact page! I'm always happy to expand the collection.

All videos below this line are no longer available online.
I have done my best to mute copyrighted music - if any remains, it is simply because I have not been able to recognize it myself. Inform me of anything I've missed, and I will edit the videos accordingly.
Mind your volume settings, as these will play at maximum volume by default!

Muted Videos:

3 toed sloth
a forest drive, or a bad trip_
CGI Easter, the sequel to Christmas
dynamic dunny roll
frustrated gardener (This is NOT MY garden btw)
how to toilet train your dragon, a parody
my cats animated version only
pointless animation to utilize some of my unused broadband
song of Australia

"Tiger, naughty cat, you're not out of the woods yet!"

"Australian hung parliment parody"

"Julia Gillard's victory song"

Several of Wendy's videos parody the current events of the time, such as the 2009 scandal of Tiger Woods' affair or the political goings-on of Australian parliament.

"over twilight saga already"

"how to toilet train your dragon, a parody"

Other pieces of media that Wendy had an opinion on got the same treatment - for instance, some now-deleted videos were made during the height of the popularity of Game of Thrones, featuring characters like Khal Drogo and Daenerys Targaryen doing the Gangnam Style dance, among other things. Wendy's enjoyment of toilet humor also rears its head here.

"BP big pollution"

Wendy's commentaries are not limited to parody and jokes, however - On several occasions she has tried to use her platform and distinct style to raise awareness on certain issues. The as-of-yet-undeleted "saving planet earth, small steps" is a call to action to save the environment, while "BP big pollution" depicts the disastrous effects of the April 20 2010 British Petroleum oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico.

On the surface, this is a funny-looking video implying the Gulf of Mexico is home to plesiosaurs and hunky mermen, but the use of dark ambient music and deep synthesized voices turns it into something that genuinely has a threatening, nightmarish aura to it, befitting the dire nature of the event.

"nobody watches my youtube videos"

Some of Wendy's library also consists of vlog-like videos featuring Wendy herself talking about something that's on her mind, or just about her home life with her cats. A common topic was Wendy's growing disillusionment with the way YouTube operated, something she voiced since very early on in her channel's history.
"watch my youtube video" can be seen in the background of this video.

"random cgi tv"

"my, I didn't go to the Adelaide Royal show animation"

Wendy will also flex her creativity by making little stories out of her videos, often involving more parodies of popular media, or her virtual avatar going on trips she can't go on herself.
"cruise trip" is also one of these 'virtual vacation' videos.

"CGI Easter, the sequel to Christmas"

"number 1 xmas gift"

"this is the feast of victory for our God"

Plenty of Wendy's videos act as music videos for Christian hymns and depictions of scenes from the Bible...

"E stir"

"Feb 14 is St Valentine's day so I did an animation"

"tree"

"Santa Clawz is coming"

...Others are essentially animated greeting cards in honor of the holidays.

"hot 3d models for my male friends and rellies"

"Pr0n Legacy, enter the uncanny valley with your joystick in hand"

Plenty of Wendy's videos also contained some very mildly suggestive themes and imagery, almost always as either a critique of trolls flagging her content as offensive, or a joke at the expense of the viewers who would watch in the hopes of seeing some three-dimensional skin.

This is best exemplified in this video below, entitled:
"full frontal nudity with a sex scene"

"piano 101 for monkeys"

"Make Ugly"

Other videos give us a little bit of a glimpse into Wendy's process, even if that process involves making a model look as unsightly as possible...

"curmudgeon"

"3 toed sloth"

"pussy and tit"

...And others are just plain funny.

"my animated cg furry toy pets"

Lastly, Wendy has made it clear that the Furry fandom is A-OK in her book, which lead to the creation of JaguarElla, probably her most consistently recurring character since Tom R. Toe.

Of course there are many, many, many videos that were removed from Wendy's channel that have now been lost to time. Most were simply tiny little experimental things, but even among these were ones that had something striking to them - Pieces of avant-garde horror like "I watched the blood dance", which (if I recall correctly) featured veins in humanoid configuration dancing to melodic screams similar to "death's dynamic shroud", or funny little videos that debuted songs she liked to reuse, such as one focusing on a green wall-mounted fish singing a fish-themed variation of "Oh, You Beautiful Doll" which gave viewers a rare opportuntiy to clearly hear the often-hard-to-discern lyrics sung by the synthesized voices in Wendy's music.

Below are other deleted short / experimental videos which reflect the vast majority of Wendy's channel's output.
